This tough, warm season grass tolerates all soil types, is quite drought tolerant,
and spreads quickly by rhizomes. In addition to its ornamental value with copper-colored seeds and autumn color, it is used on slopes to prevent soil erosion and provides food for insects as well as nesting sites for birds.
