Schizachyrium scoparium

A gently swaying, attractive, blue-green grass, Little Bluestem is an important wildlife plant, offering food for a variety of insects and birds, and serving as a larval host for the skipper species of butterflies. In winter, this grass continues to delight humans and wildlife, turning a warm brown copper-crimson color and offering nesting for Bumblebee queens.
