Lovely as a mounded ground cover with it whimsical, lavender flowers, this woodland native provides visual interest all season and is a super host to solitary bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Prefers shade but will tolerate sun if the soil is damp. Called Cranesbill because of its pointy, beak-like seed pod that splits open and ejects the seeds—and the name “geranium” comes from the Greek word for “crane!”
