This resilient, low growing perennial bunchgrass, valuable for reducing soil erosion because of its fibrous roots, produces flat leaves from late summer to early fall. Delicate purplish blooms emerge in clusters starting in late summer. Attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, and its nutrient rich seeds provide food for songbirds and small mammals.
