Pityopsis falcata

Common Name :

Sickle-leaved Golden Aster

Though not as abundant as other varieties of asters, Sickle-Leaved Golden Aster grows abundantly from summer to fall on coastal dunes, sandy woodlands, and around the edges of cranberry bogs in the Cape Cod area. It does especially well in sandy soils. Small, deep yellow flowers attract bees and butterflies, and it is an important food source for the Golden Aster Flower Moth.
